Fall Update!
As the new school year approaches, DaytonREAD is in the process of planning and we want YOU to be a part of this important step! We are regularly receiving news of upcoming events and inquiries from parents looking for support. We want to continue providing support to those in need, but we can only do this with your help. Please mark your calendars for our planning meeting on Tuesday, August 18th at the Kettering-Moraine Library from 6:45-8:15pm. If you have someone affected by dyslexia in your life, you are encouraged to attend. We want to hear from you!

Dayton READ will be meeting this Thursday, April 16 from 6:45-8:15 at the Kettering-Moraine Library.

This month we’ll view and discuss portions of the national documentary: Demystifying Dyslexia.
An estimated 10 to 15 percent — one in every 10 Americans — suffers to some degree from dyslexia, an often misunderstood learning difficulty characterized by problems with word recognition and poor spelling. Hosted by Olympic champion Bruce Jenner, DEMYSTIFYING DYSLEXIA profiles inspiring individuals confronting the challenges of living with dyslexia. Compelling personal stories, innovative educational methods and cutting-edge scientific research highlight the important contemporary issues surrounding dyslexia. The program also offers valuable insight into the inner-workings of the dyslexic mind and provides parents and teachers guidance for reaching a dyslexic child.

If you have been thinking about checking out DaytonREAD, now is the time!  We have meetings scheduled for the third Thursdays in February, March, and April.  Same time, same place – hope you can make it!

Please join us on Thursday, February 19th from 6:45 pm until 8:15 pm at the Kettering-Moraine Library for our regular monthly meeting.  We plan to take time for discussion in a round-table format.  Teachers and tutors, please come with your best hints and tips for lesson planning.  Parents, this will give you a time to share your thoughts and gain insights from others who have traveled a similar path.  Everyone is welcome!

A reminder: DaytonREAD has no affiliation with the Dayton Metro Library or Kettering-Moraine Library.  If you have questions, please do not contact the library as they will be unable to assist you.  For more information you can send an email to DaytonREAD@gmail.com.
